Here are five more minimal works, made around the same time as those in post 50: (https://johnmacormacart.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/50th-post-5-minimal-works/)
These fragile, loosely titled works are on paper and card. The first three are quick experiments and the fourth and fifth are composed of debris from other pieces lying around my studio held together with glue. I find that like sketchbook works, these pieces are freer and not laboured as ‘finished’ pieces can often be.
Dripped gloss over black
Deep blue with pink
Mask on black with drips
Worn paper on card
Globe within square
Dripped gloss over black and Worn Paper on card are particular favorites – like the directness and openness of each
Thanks very much Jennie!
Beautiful pieces!
Thanks Meta!
Mask on black with drips is really intriguing β there’s so many small interest areas and spacial relationships happening. All these pieces are rather fascinating and I do feel the ‘freeness’ you note.
Thanks very much, yes I find it’s difficult to achieve a sense of being free when I try in my work, the most interesting things often happen by accident.
Like them all, but Mask on Black speaks to me.
thanks very much for your thoughts as always Elena.
I really love your art!
thank you very much, positive reactions really help keep me motivated!
You should consider putting in a link back to the other post to make it easier for someone to find the other work you are talking about. Just a thought π
Will do, thanks for the suggestion π
I particularly love the Deep Blue with Pinks and the Dripped Gloss with Black. Think they are superb! Have you tried showing your work in gallery?
thanks very much Stockdalewolfe! I’ve shown work in a lot of galleries over the years, thought not many outside Ireland. I’m hoping to go to Berlin for two months this summer and would love to organise a show there.
Yeah, they look great– not surprised you’ve shown. Good luck in Berlin!
thanks very much!
