I’ve been working on this piece recently. I’ve been spending an hour or so at a time adding and obliterating parts of the composition. I haven’t completely decided if it’s finished. The photo was taken with a higher resolution camera than most of the others on my blog so please zoom in to see fine areas of detail like these:
I’m working on wooden panel, enjoying a resistant surface to sandpaper and hammer nails into.
I really like this … =D
Thanks for your support gonerustic! : )
I think it’s beautiful. How large is it?
Ahh that’s very kind of you, it’s 84x59cm.
These are wonderful and inspiring – thanks for stopping by my blog so I could find you. Looking forward to seeing how this and future pieces develop.
Thanks for the kind commment, I’m really enjoying your work too.
I really like this too. I like how it gives more as one looks closer.
I have always had a fascination with maps and place and I think you do something interesting with the intersection of the abstraction of a map and the viscerality of a place. Is there a reason for the light blue palate sky
thankyou Christopher. Yes I’m definitely drawn to the abstract beauty of maps, I collect them from charity shops. Light blue can represent sky or a body of water, as a base colour it lends a sense of cool open space to pieces which can then be challenged.
beautiful!
Thanks Darcy!
I love this, especially the bits of maps, the repeating circles and the bits of red.
Thanks very much, the 3 aspects you mention often recur in my work.
Wow. Love these.
Thanks Rachael, very much appreciated!
Hello John – is your work for sale anywhere? Thoroughly enjoying the blog so far….
Hi Chipster2903, I don’t have an online shop/etsy (yet) but if there’s a piece that you’re interested in I could let you know if it’s available and the price including postage and packing. Thanks very much for your compliment!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and giving me the opportunity to view your work. I like the images on this post.
Much appreciated John, thanks for stopping by here too.
Hello John – this picture is what drew me here in the first place, so we could always look to that if you like (unless it isn’t finished yet of course!). I have a large Rauschenberg print on my wall so I think it’ll be in good company.
Drop me a line if you like – cpwsmith@live.co.uk
Thanks!
