John, your work hits a spot that I thought had died within me. This is real art, thank God for your work. I could write more. Some of it reminds me of a confidence I once had, but unlike me, you seem to be the real deal in painting. I am reminded of Rosenberg’s work, which I loved and saw in the Tate in the early 70’s but was IMHO was never fully resolved. I do not mean to suggest that your work is simply retro or derivative, no indeed; but we all stand in a historical tradition, even if only to break from it. Your work has power. Do not fritter this tallent. Phil (Wales).
John, this is a fantastic piece. I love the composition as well as the color – especially the red that runs down. I also work with no fixed destination in mind. Besides, every time I try to it never works out the way I had planned! Your work is great. Good luck with the exhibit!
Thanks for your kind comment and good wishes for the show. Yeah dripped paint is a regular feature of my work. I find it keeps things exciting never to have a fixed destination!
So much depth to this art work, John. It’s just wonderful to explore. i have to say, as someone who has loved Boxers all my life, and owned them for many years, that silhouette for the gallery just catches me eye. 🙂 Your work is much more subtle and complex, so it wins. 🙂 Good luck with the show!
John- I am still gathering a pile of odds and ends to send to you one of these days. I haven’t forgotten. Beautiful, lovely, moving work as always- hope your solo show (a belated CONGRATULATIONS!!) went splendidly well, though I have no doubt it did. 🙂
